SUMMARY:Native plug planting at Mt. Ashland Ski Resort
DESCRIPTION:Join the Rogue Native Plant Partnership for a day of habitat restoration on the peak of Mt. Ashland near the ski resort! \nThe heavy equipment needed to make renovations to the Mt. Ashland ski lodge caused vegetation to be lost near the Sonnet bunny hill. Join us to help replant this hillside with native wildflowers and grasses and restore it to a more beautiful and pollinator friendly area. \nWe’ll use teamwork to transfer plugs from trays and into the ground. You’ll learn about each of the native species we’re planting\, and you’ll be contributing directly to expanding pollinator habitat and restoration efforts. \nPlease bring weather-appropriate clothing\, sun protection\, water\, garden gloves\, and a hand trowel (also a gardener’s kneeling pad if you have one). \n**Please note that the date of this event may change due to snow pack. We expect the snow to be mostly melted by June 1st but may have to move the event back if we’re wrong about that.

SUMMARY:Free Talk: Ashland Creek Dam Removal
DESCRIPTION:The Rogue River Watershed Council is implementing a fish passage improvement project on Ashland Creek at the Smith-Myer-Roper Diversion Dam\, located in Ashland Creek Park. The project aims to remove the dam to improve juvenile fish passage for Coho Salmon and steelhead as well as improve the irrigation system so that water users can still divert their full water right. Ashland Creek provides essential cold water habitat for Rogue Basin salmon and this project will improve access to 2 miles of additional habitat. Project manager Alexis Larsen will discuss the project as well as other restoration work that RRWC is doing in the Rogue Basin. \nThis event is free and open to the public.

SUMMARY:6th Annual Outdoor Film & Poetry Reading
DESCRIPTION:Come enjoy an Applegate summer evening with The Applegate Partnership and Watershed Council for an outdoor screening of the film The Beaver Believers along with a poetry reading by the Applegate Poetry Association at Red Lily Vineyards\, 11777 Highway 238 in the Applegate Valley. Free Admission. \nThe Beaver Believers is the urgent yet whimsical story of an unlikely cadre of activists who share a common vision: restoring the North American Beaver\, that most industrious\, ingenious\, bucktoothed engineer\, to the watersheds of the arid West. The Beaver Believers encourage us to embrace a new paradigm for managing our western lands\, one that seeks to partner with the natural world rather than overpower it. As a keystone species\, beaver enrich their ecosystems\, creating the complexity and resiliency our watersheds need to absorb the impacts of climate change. Beavers can show us the way and even do much of the work for us\, if only we can find the humility to trust in the restorative power of nature and our own ability to play a positive role within it. Shot in 8 western US states\, Mexico\, and Canada\, through desert drought\, raging wild fires\, spring floods\, and wetland tranquility\, this film will change the way you think about climate change and inspire you to take a bite out of the challenges we face\, one stick at a time. \nThe film will be introduced with a brief talk on beavers in the Applegate from Jakob Shockey\, beaver expert and wildlife biologist with Applegate Partnership & Watershed Council. \nThe Applegate Poets will start the evening by reading poems based on the ideas and themes explored in the film presentation. Food and beverages provided by Red Lily will be available for purchase.
