Beaver play a keystone role in the function of our ecosystem—but they can also be tricky to live with. Since 2013 Jakob Shockey has been working with the Applegate Partnership & Watershed Council to build resiliency in the Applegate through restoration projects and is now leading a partnership effort with the Rogue Basin Partnership to utilize beaver as a habitat restoration tool. He also works across the state with landowners and agencies to resolve beaver conflicts.
In this talk, Jakob will discuss the role of beaver on the landscape, their historical context in our valley, and tools for resolving common conflicts with beaver.
